FOSBURY boitsfort jeroenverrecht 6899

The Team of Fosbury & Sons would like to share some tips to shake up your routines. These activities will give you a sense of accomplishment, and keep your mind engaged and active, and they'll also distract you from anxiety. In the long run, it's very helpful to give ourselves mental breaks. These simple tips and to do’s will help you relax and put things in perspective — in between washing your hands, of course.

Part 1: Books to read

The choice of Matthias, our Project Manager:

Matthew Walker - Why We Sleep

The science and philosophy behind the nature of human sleep. Stressing the importance of a good night's sleep for well-being, happiness and less stress.

The choice of Amelien, our Front Desk & Venue Officer:

Oliver Sacks - On The Move

This autobiography of the neuroscientist Oliver Sacks, written in a very poetic way, takes us to many places where Oliver's life has been shaped. He writes about his personal struggles as a young gay man in a conservative Jewish community, about his extravagant adventures on the road with his motorbike across the world as a rather introvert human being, about his outstanding career that begin with utterly genuine discoveries, and of course he shows us mainly the magic of the human brain, an endlessly interesting mystery to all of us. "This book made me laugh and cry at the same time and I love that feeling."

The choice of Elle, our Marketing Manager:

Paulo Coelho - The Alchemist

It is the story of a young Andalusian shepherd who dreams of travelling the world in search of a treasure as desirable as any ever found. From his home he journeys to the exotic markets of North Africa and then into the Egyptian desert, where a fateful encounter with the alchemist awaits him. It is an unforgettable story about the essential wisdom of listening to our heart and, above all, following our dreams.

The choice of Esger, our Sales Manager:

Terry Hayes - I Am Pilgrim

A thriller about the possibilities of modern terrorism using virusses. (very applicable during these times) Sounds cheesy but is very elaborate on investigative research.

The choice of Claire, our Project Manager:

Sally Rooney - Normal People

It’s about a complicated friendship between two very different and intriguing teenagers. Rooney takes the reader on a journey that is both satisfying and heart breaking. "I read it on my summer holiday last year in only one day. I was so hooked to the book, unbelievable. I wish I could read it again without knowing how things will turn out."

The choice of Charlotte, our Front Desk & Venue Officer:

Michael A. Singer - The Untethered Soul

A spiritual/transformation book about freeing yourself from habitual thoughts, emotions and energy patterns that limit your consciousness. It’s goal is to help you find inner peace and freedom. "I think now is the perfect time to do self-reflection since it is mostly only you with whom you will hang out with the next couple of weeks."

The choice of Audry, our Office Manager Building & Construction:

Alain de Botton - The Art of Travel

A book written by a modern philosopher who playfully explains why and how we should travel. "Something to hold onto during these Corona times."

The choice of Robin, our Clan Lead in The Netherlands:

Gregory David Roberts - Shantaram

The journey of a man who has escaped prison and his country to start a new life in Bombay. Starting from the bottom only to find all the different riches and dangers the city and which life have to offer. With about a 1000 pages it will surely keep you busy for a bit.

The choice of Eveline, our Clan Lead in Belgium:

Clarissa Pinkola Estés - Women who run with the wolves

A wonderful work on the inner life of women. Through the interpretation of stories, the writer reveals how within every woman there lives a Wild Woman, filled with passionate creativity and ageless knowing, but repressed for centuries by a value system that trivializes emotional truth, intuitive wisdom and instinctual self-confidence.
